Moisture Analyzer Calibration

Preventative Maintenance

  •  Cleaning: After each use, remove sample residues from the pan, chamber, and heating      element shield to prevent buildup, corrosion, or uneven heating. Use a soft brush or lint-free cloth; avoid harsh chemicals.
  • Heating Element Inspection: Check the halogen lamp and protective glass for      discoloration, cracks, or deposits that could affect heating performance.
  • Balance Care: Keep the weighing mechanism free from dust and vibrations; avoid      overloading the pan.
  • Ventilation & Environment: Ensure proper airflow around the unit, free from drafts, temperature fluctuations, or high humidity that can skew results.
  • Firmware & Settings: Verify software parameters are correctly set for drying programs; update firmware if applicable.
  • Periodic Professional Service: Replace lamps, seals, or filters as recommended by the manufacturer.

Calibration

  •  Balance Calibration: Perform internal or external calibration using certified test weights to verify accuracy of the weighing system.
  • Temperature Calibration: Use a calibrated temperature probe or manufacturer’s test  kit to verify that the halogen heater reaches and maintains the set temperature. Adjust if deviations exceed tolerances.
  • Performance Verification: Run moisture tests with reference materials of known water content to check system accuracy under real conditions.
  • Tolerance Limits: Compare results against ISO/IEC 17025, GLP/GMP, or      manufacturer specifications. Common checks include balance linearity (using weights), temperature accuracy (±1–2 °C), and repeatability of drying results.
  • Documentation: Record all calibration results, adjustments, and maintenance actions for audit and compliance traceability.

About Moisture Analyzer Calibration

Moisture analyzer preventative maintenance and calibration are critical for ensuring accurate, repeatable moisture content results and prolonging the life of the instrument. These analyzers combine a precision balance with a halogen heating element, so both components require regular care.
